The Mumbai Asian Film Festival (MAFF) is an international platform dedicated to discovering, celebrating, and promoting independent, passionate, and fearless filmmakers from Asia and across the globe. Set in the heart of India's creative capital – Mumbai, a city synonymous with cinema – MAFF is envisioned as a meeting ground for diverse stories, cultures, and cinematic voices that deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Our festival is committed to supporting emerging and young filmmakers, first-time directors, students, and independent creators who often struggle to find meaningful platforms for their work. Awards & Recognition
Eligibility & Rules
Only films completed on or after 1st January 2023 are eligible for submission.
Films in any language and in all categories are accepted.
For Indian entries, the Director must be an Indian citizen.
Feature Films: Must be above 45 minutes.
Short Films: Must be 45 minutes or under.
All films must include English subtitles, irrespective of the original language.
YouTube links are NOT accepted. Only Vimeo links (password-protected if required) or Google Drive links are eligible.
Films may be submitted by individual directors, producers, production houses, agencies, or organizations.
Multiple submissions by the same individual are allowed; however, only one film per individual may be selected.
All films will be reviewed and selected by a duly appointed Jury Panel. The Jury’s decision shall be final and binding. Festival Authorities reserve the right to reject any film that does not align with the festival’s objectives and vision, even if it meets technical eligibility criteria.
Entry fee is mandatory for every submission. Submissions without payment will be considered invalid. Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances after submission.
By submitting, participants grant MAFF the right to use film stills, posters, trailers, and promotional materials on the festival's website, social media, and publicity platforms, and to screen excerpts strictly for festival promotion during the festival period.
Submissions with incorrect, incomplete, illegible, or misleading information will be disqualified without notice.
Films submitted are considered final. No changes, replacements, or updated versions will be accepted after submission.
Awards are presented to the Director(s) and/or Producer(s). Acting awards to respective performers. A representative may accept on behalf if the recipient cannot attend. For international films, physical presence is NOT mandatory. Courier charges for dispatched awards are borne by the filmmaker.
All awards are decided by the Festival Jury – final and binding. Festival Authorities reserve the right to withhold or reassign any award if no suitable entry is found in a category.
Cash prizes are disbursed per the festival's internal process. All applicable taxes are the responsibility of the award recipient.
Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of all rules and regulations mentioned herein. The decision of Festival Authorities shall be final in all matters.
Festival dates, venue, format, or terms may change due to unavoidable circumstances without prior notice. Any future revisions to the Terms & Conditions shall apply to all submitted films.
